Employee Spotlight: Customer Service Representative Cristina Normandia-Torres
Restaurant City is full of exceptional employees who go above and beyond to help our customers with their commercial kitchen equipment needs. To show our appreciation, we wanted to spotlight employees who truly represent Restaurant City and the ideals we stand behind.
Cristina Normandia-Torres works at our Pompano showroom. Cristina has been with us since day one down in Florida and has been an exemplary customer service representative for the last 2+ years since! We spoke to Cristina about what it’s like working in customer service.
What does customer service mean to you?
Great customer service means meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
What are some of the unique challenges you face in this industry as a customer service representative?
In this industry and this store, the first thing that comes to mind is that customers have different terminology for the same things. Sometimes we call it different things than the customer does. We call them steam tables - customers call them warmers, bain maries, heaters, and a bunch more names. A lot of times, I’ll ask them for a picture or an explanation of how they’re using it to understand what they mean. That usually works.
How does Restaurant City excel in customer service?
At Restaurant City, customer service means treating customers as if they’re eating at “our” restaurant.
What is your favorite customer service story?
My favorite customer service story is when my friend came in and was so happy he built his dream restaurant.
Why do you like being a customer service representative?
Wow, I’ve been in customer service since I was 16. When customers tell me I’m doing a good job, it always makes me feel appreciated.
How would you define customer service?
For me, it’s giving the best experience to the customer when they come to our store so they can find what they’re looking for and more.
What’s your favorite restaurant dish?
My favorite dish? I like a lot of them. I love pasta, but I’ll usually go for Latin food. Mofongo is my favorite one - stuffed with chicken and a garlic sauce.
Employees like Cristina are what make Restaurant City thrive. We want our customers to have the best experience possible when visiting us. Customer service representatives are crucial to ensuring that. They help customers find commercial kitchen equipment that meets their needs. Cristina is an amazing member of the Restaurant City family and we’re proud of the work she does. Thank you for all that you do!
